Happy Easter!

We have had a great day! The Easter Bunny came to our house last night, so that caused quite a bit of excitement this morning while we were trying to get everyone fed, dressed and out the door in time for the early service at church. Carter was excited that the Easter Bunny brought him a baseball glove, bubbles with lots of different wands and new books! Ally got a few new toys and books, too! After church we came home and got ready for lunch. It was my first time to be in charge of a holiday meal. We had ham (which wasn't all the way cooked by the time we wanted to eat so we had to microwave it the rest of the way!), deviled eggs, asparagus, salad and two homemade pies! It was so nice to be able to spend time with my mom and brother, although we were really missing my dad today (he stayed in Rome since he is coming home next month).

I thought it would be a great idea to take the kids to get their pictures taken in the bluebonnets in their Easter clothes after their naps this afternoon. As you can tell, it didn't go as planned...thanks to a certain little boy who has decided that he DOES NOT want his picture taken! After the bluebonnets we went to Research Park on campus to try and get some more pictures! I've posted the best ones from the day!

Rodeo Houston

We loaded up the kids yesterday for their first trip to the Houston Livestock Show! We ended up having a great time, and both the kids were REALLY well behaved the entire day! We got to see lots of animals, eat yummy food (including fried Oreos!), and play outside at the carnival for a bit. We are already talking about our trip back next year! I tried to put the pictures in order but it was taking too long!

Rodeo Day

Carter had a Rodeo Day at his school today. I think he was a little overwhelmed when we got there (he doesn't usually go to school today), so I don't think he enjoyed it very much. All he wanted to do was play in the sand and eat his trail mix!

Although Carter wouldn't get on the saddle, Ally enjoyed riding it with Mommy's help!

Carter digging for gold!

Surveying the location.

Carter's first homework...decorate the stick horse. It has already been torn apart and is currently resting in our trashcan!

Carter loves to talk to Daddy on the phone in the morning, although sometimes he is hard to understand. He loves to show Daddy things with the phone (ex. he showed him all his new Easter books this morning). I love listening to him tell Sam about everything, even though I end up being the translator for most of the conversation!

Ally is Six Months Old!!!

That's right, Ally turned 6 months old on Tuesday! We don't have her well-check appointment until next week, so stay tuned for weight and height announcements!

What a Week!!!

We had a crazy week around our house, so I am happy that today is the beginning of a new one! Monday I thought I was coming down with a sinus infection, which is when Sam informs me he didn't feel good either! On Tuesday I went to my "Mommy Boot Camp," fell down during the tire drills, and ended up at the doctor's office with a stage 2 sprained ankle! The rest of the week just went downhill from there...we all have pretty good colds now, my ankle is still swollen and Carter has developed a fear of the dark so he is waking up frequently during the night! Whew! Let's hope this week is better!

I do have some good news, though! Tonight when we were reading a book, Carter pointed to the letters "I, N, O and Y!" He also told us what sound "N" says! I know what you're thinking...who cares, right!?!?! But, you have to remember that I was a kindergarten teacher and I had many kids in my class who came to school not knowing this stuff! Don't worry, I don't sit and drill him all day, he has learned most of it from his letters on the dishwasher! Can you tell I'm a proud mama???

The Jumparoo...Then & Now!
