Stitches (warning: graphic pictures)

Ally fell off the couch on Monday night and ended up busting her chin open. It was crazy how it happened, and we still aren't sure how she hit her chin in the just the right place to cause such damage! After lots of blood and a few tears (she was VERY brave), we decided to take her in to get stitches. Not exactly how I planned on spending my Monday night, but the doctor said it was a good thing we came in when we did. I think the wound grew on our way to the hospital!

Here is a picture after she actually got the stitches. It was pretty traumatic on her (and me), but I will admit that I stayed strong and didn't cry! It took 2 nurses, the doctor, me and Sam to hold her down to get the numbing shots and stitches in the chin! However, I honestly think she did better than I would have done if it had been me!!

Ally enjoyed the one-on-one time with her parents...and the ipad! She happily played it for the almost 2 hours we waited!
OUCH!!!!
This is a picture right after we got back to the room (about 15 minutes after getting to the ER). She was tired and a little anxious about all the fuss being made about her chin!
At least now we can say that the first set of stitches is out of the way! I'm honestly surprised it took this long for one of them to get them!

A BIG thank you goes out to my mom for coming over to watch Carter while we took Ally to the ER! She is THE BEST!!!!!

October 2010

I can't believe that October has come and gone and it is now November! We had a very busy month...

Carter and Ally were Peter Pan

and Tinkerbell for Halloween!

We played outside a lot because the weather was finally cool enough to enjoy the outdoors!
We had trunk-or-treat at the kids' school! Gaga was nice enough to loan her car and decorate it for the morning!
We played outside at our friend's lake house.
Aunt Rebecca had a fun Halloween party at her house - here are all the cousins (except Caleb) dressed up for Halloween!
Granddad came home for a couple of days to visit.
We visited the local pumpkin patch and took pictures!
We are looking forward to some big events in the next couple of weeks...Thanksgiving, Carter's 5th birthday and a trip to Disney World over Christmas!

Surfside 2010

Our Sunday School class rented a beach house in Surfside in early August, so I loaded up the kids and took them down there with 3 other families for the first part of the week (the second part of the week/weekend was for adults only). They loved every minute of it!

This was the first of many sharks that were caught throughout the week!

Sam wasn't able to attend for the first part of the week, which means that I got to drive all the way back to College Station, pass the kids off to his parents, pick him up and head back down to Surfside! It was a fun week/weekend and something that we will definitely plan on doing next summer!

Our Trip to Fort Worth

At the end of June we made a quick trip up to Fort Worth to visit some friends, eat some yummy food and enjoy the big city!

Our first adventure was to the newly remodeled children's museum. It was closed the entire time we lived up there, so I was excited when our old neighbors recommended we go there for a play date! It was huge and had lots of neat things for the kids to do!

We were able to hang out with Carter's best friend - Carter L.! He still talks about him often and asks when we are going to go visit him again!

Sam has raved about a new restaurant called the "Love Shack" that opened recently, so we decided to try it out. The kids loved playing with the chalk and dancing on the stage, and I thought the food was really good!
Unfortunately my camera ran out of batteries so these are all the pictures I have from our trip. It also rained most of the time we were there so we weren't able to do the zoo or train like we had planned. We meant to get back up there all summer but could just never find the time! Hopefully we will be able to go up there for a quick weekend getaway next month!

Ally is 3!!!

I seriously cannot believe that my BABY is three!!! Ally was so excited to turn three and celebrate her birthday that we had to start counting down weeks in advance!

Ally was able to celebrate her birthday with her classmates on the third day of school. She requested pink and purple cupcakes and she loved sharing them with her friends! My camera wasn't working very well that day so most of the pictures came out blurry.

Ally wanted to have a princess birthday party at Powersports (where she took gymnastics). She loved it!!!

It was such a great day!! We are so happy that the Lord blessed us with such a loving little girl!!!

The First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for the kids, and they both had a GREAT day!

Ally is in the two year-old class that meets three days a week. She has several friends in her class that were with her last year, and I think it helped make the transition a little easier for her. She loves school, but for some reason has been a little clingy and apprehensive the last couple of days.

Carter began his last year of preschool before he begins Kindergarten! I cannot believe that this time next year my baby boy will be going to school every day all day! Where has the time gone? He will be going four days a week this year, which is a big jump from the two days a week he went last year.

Ally has two terrific teachers this year! Ms. Whitney, shown here, and Ms. Lauren pictured below! I know she will grow to love them!

Carter also has two fabulous teachers! This is Ms. Fran, who is a very special teacher to me! She was one of my 5th grade teachers, and the first teacher I had when we moved to College Station!! She is wonderful, and I am so happy that Carter is going to be one of her students!
Carter also has another teacher, Ms. Nancy. She was out today to be with her husband, who had some medical issues. I know that these ladies will do a great job preparing Carter for Kindergarten!
I will admit that there were several days this summer that I couldn't wait for school to start back up, but as the date approached (and lots of our friends started Kindergarten) I couldn't help but feel a little sad...sad that my babies are not babies anymore! Somehow, in the midst of all the craziness, they grew up on me. I wish I could somehow stop the clock and freeze time, but instead I am going to thank God for all of our blessings and enjoy every minute...because before long they will be moving into the dorm for their freshman year of college...at A&M! :)

Wordless Wednesday
